Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw against Al-Taawoun in the Saudi Pro League on Friday evening.

During the match, the 39-year-old superstar received Lionel Messi chants from opposition fans, but he responded with a graceful gesture.

The Ronaldo vs Messi GOAT debate has elicited passionate discussions among fans, showing no signs of ending.

In the first half, fans could be heard chanting 'Messi' to Ronaldo, who was in the middle of the pitch. The Portugal veteran seemed unbothered.

He responded with a thumbs-up and accompanied it with a radiant smile. This is not the first time the five-time Ballon d'Or has received Messi chants in Saudi Arabia.

Al-Nassr have won one of their last four matches and continue to fall behind in the title race.

They are fourth on the SPL table with 29 points after 15 matches, 11 points behind defending champions Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad, who both have 40.

Ronaldo salutes Messi

In 2023, Ronaldo showed love to Messi after missing the 2023 Ballon d'Or nomination. Messi controversially won the 2023 award.

The Portugal star chimed in the GOAT debate with a classy comment.

“Those who like Cristiano Ronaldo don't have to hate Messi and vice versa," he said via Eurosport."We've done well, we have changed the history of football. We are respected all over the world, that's the most important thing."

"We've done well, we have changed the history of football. We are respected all over the world, that's the most important thing."

Ronaldo highlighted the respect he has for Messi.

"We shared the stage many times, it was 15 years. I'm not saying we're friends, I've never had dinner with him, but we're professional colleagues and we respect each other."

Ronaldo has been playing in Saudi Arabia since early 2023 after an unceremonious exit from Manchester United.

He scored 75 goals for the club in 85 appearances. Last season, he netted 35, a new record for most goals scored in a campaign.
